Boerne Bulletin: 8 Boerne ISD campuses receive Purple Star Campus Designations

Boerne, TX – Boerne ISD is proud to share that a total of 8 campuses have received the Purple Star Designation.
Last year, Curington Elementary School and Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary School were two campuses out of 98 statewide to achieve Purple Star status. Today, the Texas Education Agency and Commissioner Mike Morath released the newest additions to this illustrious list. This year, Boerne High School, Champion High School, Boerne Middle School North, Voss Middle School, Cibolo Creek Elementary School, and Van Raub Elementary School were added to the state’s lineup of the most military-friendly campuses in Texas.
The Purple Star Campus Designation was created in the 86th legislative session. It is earned by campuses that have a campus-based military liaison for families, create and maintain an easily accessible campus webpage connecting military-connected families with resources, have campus transition programs for families who are military-connected, and offer initiatives that honor military families.
Dr. Kristin Craft, Boerne ISD’s superintendent, shared, “We are honored that so many military families choose Boerne as their home – either while serving their country or after retiring. Our community is made better because they’re here, and it’s a privilege to help service men and women and their families acclimate to our community. It’s just another amazing facet of the Boerne Advantage and the lengths we go to in order to make sure people feel that they belong.”
The Purple Star Campus Designations are given for 2 years at a time. In Boerne ISD, the goal is for all of our campuses to achieve and maintain this distinction within the next few years.
