As we wrap up another great week at Boerne High School, I want to take a moment to thank our students, parents, teachers, and staff for the continued energy, pride, and support you bring to our campus each day. It is an exciting time to be a Greyhound, and I am grateful to be part of this incredible community.
Key Focus: Finish the First Grading Period Strong
We are now entering the final weeks of our first grading period (9 weeks). This is an important time for students to stay focused, check their grades, communicate with their teachers, and take advantage of opportunities to improve.
Parents, as a reminder, please take a few minutes to check in with your student about their progress. If a grade isn't where it needs to be, now is the time to make a plan. Please include your student's teacher in the conversation. Our teachers are committed to helping students learn, grow, and be successful.
Attendance Matters
We also want to continue emphasizing the importance of daily and on-time attendance. Being present and engaged each day makes a difference. Every class, every lesson, and every day provides an opportunity for students to learn and grow.
As we move through the first grading period, let's continue to encourage our students to stay focused, keep showing up, and finish strong.

Happenings at BHS
Volleyball:
The Lady Greyhounds defeated Boerne Champion this past Friday night, 3–1! Bella Pettet led the way with 12 kills, while Ava Seamans added 11 kills and 6 blocks. The Lady Greyhounds came to play!
Congratulations, ladies, on a big district win! 💜
Tennis:
The Tennis team beat Churchill this past Friday night, 16-3. The last district match is tomorrow vs Jay, then a a non-district match Friday at home vs Wimberly. Playoffs start next week!
Cross Country:
On Saturday the Hounds Cross Country Team competed at the Matador International in Seguin. Girls placed 8th and the boys placed 17th.
Water Polo:
This weekend at the Northside Natatorium, BISD took on Brandeis and Health Careers. The Lady Hounds fought hard but came up short against area ranked Brandeis 13-5. Junior Makenna Henson and Freshaman Gentry Jendrusch came away with 2 goals apiece. Senior Bonnie Johnson contributed 4 steals. Junior Carly Robinson had 10 saves against the Broncos. The Lady Hounds put away Health Careers with a score of 11-4. Makenna Henson led the way with 3 goals and Junior Kirstynn Williamson scored 2. Ashlyn Jendrusch contributed 4 steals. Goalie Senior Brook Sachs had 12 saves.
The Hounds had two tough losses. Brandeis took the game with a score of 23-2. Sophomore Elliot Brown and Freshman Lucas Macias each scored 1 goal to help contribute to the team. Health Careers was a tough loss with a score of 20-9. Eliot Brown came away with 4 goals followed by Parker Smith and Zach Pyle with 2 goals each.
The last regular season game will be played on Saturday, October 3 at the Northside Natatorium beginning at 8am for the Lady Hounds against Marshall.
Football:
The Greyhounds opened District 13-5A-II play with a thrilling 38–31 victory over Alamo Heights, improving to 5–0 on the season. After trailing 7–3 at halftime, Boerne rallied behind quarterback Grant Sweeney, who threw three second-half touchdown passes. The victory marked Boerne’s third consecutive win over Alamo Heights and continued the Greyhounds’ strong start to the season. The Greyhounds will have a bye this next week before taking on Long's Creek October 8th.
Band:
We are so proud of the Band and Color Guard! They received 3rd place in the 5A classification and took home the Outstanding Color Guard award at the Hill Country Marching Festival over the weekend. Congratulations!!!
Seniors will take a panoramic photo on Wednesday, September 30th at 9am in front of the school. Seniors who go to Champion for 1st period will not shuttle to Champion. Instead, they will report to the BHS Library for that period. Champion has already been notified and the students should not be marked absent or tardy for this period. Five times throughout the school year, Boerne High School PTO gets the opportunity to sell Chick-fil-A during all BHS lunch periods! It is always a fun day on campus! Even better, all proceeds from these sales go directly back to support BHS PTO programs. We need volunteers to help make each CFA Day a success! Come help us serve lunch, see the kids, and support BHS at the same time! Please consider volunteering for one (or all 😃) of our Chick-fil-A Days this year. We would love to have you!

From the Counselors...
We’re approaching the end of the 1st grading quarter and another UIL Eligibility grade check. Please be sure that students are attending tutorials and communicating with teachers. Now is a great time for students to review their grades, communicate with teachers, and take care of any missing assignments or opportunities to improve their grades. A little organization and effort now can make a big difference as students work toward finishing the quarter strong!
A Few Tips for Staying on Track:
Check your assignments daily and know what is due.
Use your planner, calendar, or school platform to keep track of upcoming deadlines.
Google Classroom links directly to the Google Calendar with links back to assignments.
Break larger assignments into smaller steps rather than waiting until the last minute.
Ask questions early if you don't understand an assignment or course material.
Take advantage of tutorials and teacher support.
Reach out for help if you are feeling overwhelmed.
Remember, Greyhounds, you don't have to figure everything out on your own! Your teachers, counselors, and support staff are here to help you get organized, stay on track, and have a successful year.
Small steps today can make a BIG difference tomorrow.

We want to help families navigate attendance and early release procedures smoothly this school year.
Early Release & Student Pick-Up
For safety reasons, student pick-up/sign-out ends at 3:30 PM (30 minutes before dismissal).
Parents/guardians or approved emergency contacts must present valid photo ID when checking out a student.
Only contacts listed in Skyward Family Access may pick up students.
Please allow time for the office to locate and retrieve your student from class.
Planned Early Releases
Submit early-release requests through the Skyward Attendance Notification Tile by 8:00 AM the day of dismissal, or preferably the day before.
Students should pick up their dismissal pass from the Attendance Office before school or during a class change.
Students must return to the Attendance Office at the designated time to complete the sign-out process and receive their Raptor pass.
Same-day appointments or emergencies: Please call the Attendance Office at 830-357-2206. Online requests are not continuously monitored.
Students Who Drive
Students who drive—or ride with a current BHS student who drives—must have a valid BHS parking permit. Otherwise, a parent/guardian must come into the Front Office to sign the student out.
Only seniors with an Off-Campus Lunch sticker may leave campus for lunch. All other students must be signed out by a parent/guardian.
If Your Student Becomes Sick
Students who feel ill should report to the school nurse. If the nurse sends the student home, the remainder of the day is excused. If a parent chooses to check out a student after the nurse determines they should remain at school, the absence is unexcused unless a parent note is provided.
Documenting Absences
Submit original excuse notes/documentation to the Attendance Office within 48 hours of the absence.
Parent excuses may also be submitted through the Skyward Attendance Notification Tile.
Medical, dental, court, DPS, college visit, and other documentation should be submitted in writing; emails are not accepted.
Please allow 2–3 school days for attendance documentation to be processed.
